Ikea Kallax Bookshelf Transformed To Modern Credenza

I've been wanting to do an Ikea Kallax bookshelf hack for a very long time.  I saw so many wonderful inspiration for it.  Creating a credenza for my entryway was very much needed to hide everything from junk mails to keys.  Its so rewarding to walk in my house now and not see clutter as I enter the door.  I would say this project cost us about $175 because we already had some of the materials and details like the furniture legs and paint.  This is still a steal price compared to the credenza I wanted for $2,500 plus.

This was a fairly easy project the only downside, wood is expensive everywhere right now, including plywood.  We use plywood to build the two doors and half round moldings to create the details on the doors. I went to Ikea and got the white Kallax and also picked up the large brass hardware for the doors there as well.

In a nutshell, we attached two doors, added four legs to the bottom of the Kallax, added a backing to the bookshelf.  This turned into my luxe and modern credenza. This post contains affiliate links for your convenience. Read my Disclosure Policy here.

This is the Credenza I liked but didn't want to pay the price for it. I was inspired by the design and created similar details for the doors.  As you saw above,  I used large pull hardware for the doors, I added acrylic legs and made it smaller with just two doors.

This White Ikea Kallax Bookshelf below is what I transformed into the masterpiece above.

We built our doors using plywood and half round decorative strips for the design.

I love these acrylic and gold furniture legs.  These instantly upscale the look.
